Information
Western Union, VIGO and MoneyGram Money Transfers
These remittances are received from any part of the world and paid to the beneficiaries at any NIB branches nationwide. Beneficiaries only need to show a proof of identity to collect their monies.
NIB pays remittances from VIGO, Western Union, Moneygram and RIA in all its branches across Ghana.
Western Union
- Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN): 10 digits secret code.
- Purpose of transaction.
- Receiver’s name.
- Sender’s name.
- Valid National ID: passport for foreigners, voter ID, driver license, national identification ID, biometric health insurance ID and passport for citizens
- Optional text question and answer.
- Receiver’s address, telephone number and date of birth.
- Amount expected
NB: If fund remitted is not claimed within 45 days, (weekends inclusive), fund will be retrieve from the system by western union.
Vigo
- Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN): 10 digits secret code which start with 972 or 973
- Purpose of transaction.
- Receiver’s name.
- Senders name.
- Valid National ID: passport for foreigners, voter ID, driver license, national identification ID, biometric health insurance ID and passport for citizens.
- Optional text question and answer.
- Receiver’s address, telephone number and date of birth.
- Amount expected
NB: Vigo is bank specific ie if it was stated to be taken from NIB it means apart from NIB bank, the receiver cannot receive it anywhere.
Moneygram
- Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN): 8 digits secret code.
- Purpose of transaction.
- Receiver’s name.
- Senders name.
- Valid National ID: passport for foreigners, voter ID, driver license, national identification ID, biometric health insurance ID and passport for citizens.
- Receiver’s address, telephone number and date of birth
- Occupation of the receiver.
- Amount expected
NB: When a Front Line Attendant (FLA) / teller views the transaction without paying the customer, the customer cannot take it anywhere apart from the first bank it was first viewed. (The transaction is locked by the first location).
